I attended a history class today. It was great to hear all those fascinating facts and thoughts from 2,500 years ago. The professor was kind, passionate and engaging. However, he was very very focused on the lives of well... brave white men. The heroic individuals who changed the course of history bla bla bla. Surely there must be a middle way between that tired old myth and the rigidity of materialist / structuralist determinism. Historians out there... shine a light... please.

@neither I'm reading up on the history of ancient Persia. 300-500 bce about. Sadly though, most available sources are... Greek.

@webmind Huh, that's a bit meagre. Any indication that archaeologists might unearth alternative sources about ?
I'm curious, we always rushed through two or three battles at school. If you run into tootable soundbytes of Persian civ, will you share them here?
